Captain Star is a top-down space shooter built so that a single pointer both moves and aims. That is not a port decision; it is the design. Your ship follows the pointer and fires where it points, which collapses the usual twin-stick split into one continuous motion and is why the game feels immediate on a desktop within seconds of starting.

It matters when choosing a version, because the input method is the real difference between them.

Mac, Apple TV, and Windows via Steam

Pick Mac or Windows if you want the pointer-driven feel the game was built for. Pick Apple TV if you would rather play it on a television from the sofa.

What the game actually asks of you

Each wave places a star you have to reach to advance, while distinct enemy types — each with its own behaviour and attack pattern — try to stop you. Reaching the star is the objective and the reward, since it unlocks the next stage and a new enemy formation. Later stages add faster waves and environmental hazards.

The structure is score-chasing rather than story: instantly readable in the first minute, with the difficulty in learning enemy patterns well enough to survive deeper into the escalation. If you want a narrative campaign, this is not that.
