Which Smartwatches Work With Apple Health (and 70 BPM)
70 BPM does not measure heart rate. It reads whatever another device has already written into Apple Health and lines it up with your calendar. So the real question is not “does my watch work with 70 BPM” but “does my watch write heart rate into Apple Health, and how much of the day does it cover?” Those turn out to be different questions with different answers per brand — checked here against each manufacturer’s own documentation, not forum folklore.
The one thing that actually matters: all day, or workouts only
70 BPM’s chart runs across your whole day and sits against your calendar events. A watch that only syncs workout heart rate leaves that chart blank between workouts — which for most people is the entire working day, and precisely the part a calendar overlay exists to show. So “writes heart rate to Apple Health” is necessary but not sufficient. What you need is all-day or periodic sampling.
70 BPM shows every heart-rate sample in Apple Health, whichever device wrote it. It does not filter by brand and never drops a reading. The differences below are entirely about what each device chooses to send to Apple Health — not about what 70 BPM reads.

Full-day heart rate: the two we can vouch for
Garmin. Garmin’s support page states it directly: Garmin syncs all-day heart rate to Apple Health. Two caveats from the same page are worth knowing before you judge the first day: the initial import only reaches back about two weeks, and Garmin Connect has to be open in the foreground to push data across. Expect a sparse chart on day one and a full one after.
Oura. Oura’s Apple Health integration page lists heart rate exported in one-minute intervals. Native and automatic. That is dense enough to fill a meeting.
Syncs heart rate, but workouts only
Polar. Polar’s documentation says it plainly: continuous heart rate is not synced. Only workout heart rate reaches Apple Health. In 70 BPM you would see your training sessions and nothing in between.
Whoop. Whoop’s export list covers heart rate during activities such as sleep and workouts, plus a single daily resting heart rate. Sleep and training show up; your waking day does not. If your reason for wanting a calendar overlay is the 2 p.m. meeting, Whoop will not put a reading there.
Syncs heart rate; full-day coverage not documented
Fitbit / Google Health. This one changed in 2026, and most advice online has not caught up. The Fitbit app became the Google Health app on 19 May 2026, and native two-way Apple Health sync arrived in the iOS app in early August. Google’s export list includes heart rate and resting heart rate. What Google does not publish is the sampling frequency, so we cannot say whether it fills a full day. Anything you read saying Fitbit needs a paid bridge app to reach Apple Health is now out of date.
COROS. COROS lists heart rate among the “daily and training data” it sends. Suggestive of all-day coverage, but not stated outright.
Withings. Exports heart rate, but Withings’ own documentation notes that syncing with Apple Health is not automatic: you open the Withings app, open Health, then pull to refresh in Withings each time you want current data. Workable, but not a passive chart.
Amazfit / Zepp. Zepp’s only official guidance is to add the Zepp app as a data source in Apple Health. It publishes no list of which data types are written. Treat heart-rate coverage as unconfirmed until you check it yourself (method below).
Does not reach an iPhone at all
Google Pixel Watch. Google’s requirements page: iPhones aren’t supported. The data never gets to the phone, so Apple Health never sees it.
Samsung Galaxy Watch. Galaxy Watch4 and newer rely on Google Play services, which is not supported on iOS, per Samsung — they cannot pair with an iPhone. Only pre-2020 models pair, and Samsung Health on iPhone is not documented as writing to Apple Health.
Suunto. We could find no official Suunto documentation of which data types it writes to Apple Health, only user forum posts. It is not listed as supported here for that reason, not because it is known not to work.
How to check your own watch in two minutes
Open Apple Health, then Browse, then Heart, then Heart Rate. Switch to the day view. If readings are scattered across an ordinary day — not clustered into a single workout block — your watch is writing all-day samples and 70 BPM will have plenty to show. If readings only appear during exercise, you are in the workouts-only group. Under the same data type, Data Sources & Access shows exactly which app is doing the writing.

Two of the vendors above changed their Apple Health behaviour within the last five months. A list of “supported watches” goes stale; “any device that writes heart rate to Apple Health” does not, and Apple Health’s data-source view tells you the truth for your specific setup. 70 BPM shows what is in Health. Yes. It reads heart rate from Apple Health, so any device that writes heart rate there can feed it. Apple Watch is simply the most common source of all-day samples.
Does a Garmin watch work with Apple Health?
Yes. Garmin’s documentation states it syncs all-day heart rate to Apple Health through Garmin Connect. The initial import covers roughly the last two weeks, and Garmin Connect needs to be open in the foreground to push data.
Does Whoop sync heart rate to Apple Health?
Partly. Whoop exports heart rate during activities such as sleep and workouts, plus a daily resting heart rate. It does not export continuous waking-day heart rate, so a calendar overlay will show gaps through the day.
Can I use Fitbit with Apple Health now?
Yes. The Fitbit app became the Google Health app in May 2026 and gained native two-way Apple Health sync in August 2026, including heart rate. Whether that covers a full day of samples is not documented by Google.
Does Samsung Galaxy Watch work with Apple Health?
