Wahoo + Apple Health: Workout Heart Rate Only (TICKR, ELEMNT, RIVAL)

70 BPM does not measure heart rate; it reads what Wahoo has already written into Apple Health and lines it up with your calendar. So the useful question for Wahoo owners is not “is it compatible” but “what exactly does Wahoo send, and how much of the day does it cover?” Everything below comes from Wahoo’s own support documentation, linked where quoted.

What Wahoo writes to Apple Health

The heart-rate line on Wahoo’s official page reads, verbatim: “Share workouts to your favorite training websites, including ... Apple Health” (Wahoo Support: Wahoo app iOS release notes (fixes for workouts written to Apple Health)). See also Wahoo Support: Using ELEMNT RIVAL with Apple Health.

The question that decides everything: does it cover the whole day?

Full-day heart rate: no — workouts only. A TICKR is a chest strap with no companion app of its own; its heart rate reaches Apple Health only inside a Wahoo-app workout. So in 70 BPM you will see your rides and runs as traces and nothing between them. The waking-day gap is a Wahoo export limit, not a 70 BPM limit. For RIVAL, Wahoo documents steps syncing through the day but does not name heart rate.

How to connect Wahoo to Apple Health

Wahoo publishes no dedicated step list. What its material establishes:

  1. The Wahoo app (used with TICKR heart-rate straps) shares workouts to Apple Health; enable Apple Health under the app’s sharing settings and grant permission in iOS.
  2. The ELEMNT app for RIVAL pushes data to Apple Health “at regular intervals throughout the day”, but Wahoo’s article names only steps as an example.
  3. If RIVAL data is being outranked, Wahoo says to move ELEMNT to the top under Data Sources & Access.

A Wahoo support article titled “Apple Watch and Apple Health” says the app does not share data with Apple Health — but it is about the SYSTM training app, not the Wahoo app. Do not read it as applying here.

Once connected, open 70 BPM, grant it Apple Health read access for heart rate, and the samples Wahoo has written appear on the day chart against your calendar events. 70 BPM shows every heart-rate sample in Apple Health, whichever device wrote it — it never filters by brand.

If Wahoo data is not showing up

Duplicate activities in Apple Health

Wahoo’s release notes include a fix for “Activities Duplicated in Apple Health”; if you also record with another app, duplicates can still appear.

RIVAL heart rate is undocumented

Wahoo’s RIVAL article covers steps. It does not say whether all-day heart rate from the watch is written. Check Apple Health’s Heart Rate day view to find out.

How to check what you are actually getting

Open Apple Health › Browse › Heart › Heart Rate and switch to the day view. Readings scattered across an ordinary day mean all-day samples are arriving; readings clustered only into workout blocks mean you are getting session data only. Under the same screen, Data Sources & Access shows which app is writing. This check reflects your actual device, firmware and settings, and beats any compatibility page — including this one.

For how Wahoo compares with other watches and rings, see Which smartwatches work with Apple Health.

This article reflects Wahoo’s published documentation as read in September 2026. Sync behaviour changes; check the linked support page before relying on it. 70 BPM is not a medical device and does not diagnose anything.

FAQ

Does Wahoo sync heart rate to Apple Health?

Only inside workouts. The Wahoo app shares workouts to Apple Health, so a TICKR strap’s heart rate reaches Apple Health as part of a recorded workout, not across the day.

Does the ELEMNT RIVAL sync heart rate to Apple Health?

Wahoo’s RIVAL article says the ELEMNT app pushes data to Apple Health at regular intervals through the day, but names only steps. All-day heart rate from RIVAL is not documented.

Will my Wahoo heart rate fill a day in 70 BPM?

No. Only your recorded workouts will show, because that is all the Wahoo app exports. This is a Wahoo limit, not a 70 BPM limit.

Can 70 BPM show my Wahoo workout heart rate against my calendar?

Yes. Workout heart-rate samples written by the Wahoo app appear in 70 BPM on the day chart, lined up against whatever was on your calendar at the time.

70 BPM shows the heart rate Apple Health already holds against your calendar. Free, on device, no account.
