WHOOP + Apple Health: What Heart Rate Actually Transfers (and What Does Not)

70 BPM does not measure heart rate; it reads what WHOOP has already written into Apple Health and lines it up with your calendar. So the useful question for WHOOP owners is not “is it compatible” but “what exactly does WHOOP send, and how much of the day does it cover?” Everything below comes from WHOOP’s own support documentation, linked where quoted.

What WHOOP writes to Apple Health

The heart-rate line on WHOOP’s official page reads, verbatim: “Heart Rate (during activities like Sleep, Running, Tennis, etc.)” (WHOOP Support: Apple Health Integration (16 April 2026)).

The question that decides everything: does it cover the whole day?

Full-day heart rate: no — workouts only. Be clear about what you will see. WHOOP measures heart rate continuously, but it exports heart rate to Apple Health only during activities — sleep and workouts — plus one resting value per day. So in 70 BPM your night and your training sessions will show a trace, and your waking day between them will be mostly empty. If the point of a calendar view for you is the 2 p.m. meeting, WHOOP will not put a reading there.

How to connect WHOOP to Apple Health

From the WHOOP app:

  1. Make sure the WHOOP app is up to date in the App Store.
  2. Open WHOOP and go to the More menu.
  3. Scroll down and select App Settings.
  4. Tap Integrations, then Apple Health.
  5. Tap Connect and follow the prompts.
  6. Choose Turn on all or pick categories, then tap Allow.

Once connected, open 70 BPM, grant it Apple Health read access for heart rate, and the samples WHOOP has written appear on the day chart against your calendar events. 70 BPM shows every heart-rate sample in Apple Health, whichever device wrote it — it never filters by brand.

If WHOOP data is not showing up

No HRV in Apple Health

WHOOP states it does not export HRV, because it calculates RMSSD while Apple Health uses SDNN.

Reinstalling WHOOP breaks the link

WHOOP’s FAQ: reinstalling the app requires re-enabling the Apple Health integration.

Duplicate workouts

If WHOOP both imports and exports workouts, and another device also writes them, duplicates can appear. WHOOP suggests disabling Workouts export in Apple Health settings.

Readings scattered across an ordinary day mean all-day samples are arriving; readings clustered only into workout blocks mean you are getting session data only.
