Best Apps to Track Heart Rate with Calendar Context (2026)
A heart rate of 108 tells you almost nothing. It could be stairs, coffee, a cold, or a difficult conversation — the number is identical in every case. What makes it readable is knowing what was in your calendar at the time.
Very few apps actually do this. Below is what calendar context means, the criteria worth judging on, and an honest look at which apps genuinely read your calendar versus which only infer activity. Disclosure: 70 BPM is our own app. Its limitations are listed alongside everyone else’s.
What “calendar context” actually means
Calendar context means the app reads your calendar and places each heart-rate reading against the events that were running at that moment, so a reading arrives labelled with what you were doing rather than as a bare point on a timeline.
This is a stricter definition than it sounds, and it excludes most of the category. An app that guesses activity from motion data, or that infers “you were stressed” from heart-rate variability alone, is not doing calendar context — it never sees the event. The distinction matters because inference tells you that something happened, while the calendar tells you what it was. Only the second is actionable: you cannot move a pattern out of your week until you can name it.
How we judged them
Five criteria, in rough order of how much they change day-to-day use:
- Calendar depth — does it read real calendar events, or infer context?
- Data source — where heart rate comes from, and whether the app needs its own hardware.
- Correlation output — does it show you the overlap, or hand you a score?
- Price model — free, one-off, or subscription.
- Platform support — iPhone, iPad, Watch, minimum OS.
The apps
1. 70 BPM — the calendar overlay
Calendar depth: reads iOS calendars directly and draws heart rate against the events themselves. Best for: anyone with back-to-back meetings who wants to know which slot is the expensive one.
70 BPM does one thing: it takes the heart-rate samples Apple Health already holds and lays them across your day next to your calendar events, colouring the trace by whether the rate sits in or out of range. Because it reads whatever calendars are already on the device, a Google or Exchange account added in iOS Settings is visible to it without any separate connection.
Everything happens on the device — no account, no upload, no subscription.
Limitations, plainly: it measures nothing itself, so you need a watch or another source writing to Apple Health. There is no Apple Watch app. It requires iOS or iPadOS 18. And it is new — a handful of ratings against competitors with six figures, which is a fair reason to be sceptical of it against the field.
2. Lifestack — the calendar-first planner
Calendar depth: genuine, and the deepest here — it syncs Google Calendar and writes back to it. Best for: people who want the calendar rearranged around their energy, not just annotated.
Lifestack (DeMind Inc.) is an AI day planner that pulls health data and calendar together to schedule tasks against predicted energy levels. It is the only app here that treats the calendar as something to modify rather than read. Free to download with a subscription, iOS 12.4 or later, iPhone, iPad and Watch.
Limitations: the planner is the product, so if you want to read your own heart-rate history rather than have your day arranged, it is more app than you need. It carried 4.3 stars from 67 ratings at the time of writing — a small sample. Note there are two apps named Lifestack on the App Store; this is the AI planner by DeMind.
3. Welltory — the inference engine
Calendar depth: none — it correlates with activities including meetings, but does not sync a calendar. Best for: people who want HRV analysis and a large, established dataset behind it.
Welltory is the heavyweight of the group: 4.7 stars from over 132,000 ratings, the most established app here by a wide margin. It measures heart-rate variability and correlates stress against work, sleep and workouts, and its own listing calls out Zoom meetings specifically. Free with a subscription, iOS 16 or later, iPhone, iPad and Watch.
Limitations: the correlation is inferred rather than read from a calendar, so it can tell you a stressful pattern exists without naming the meeting that caused it. It is also considerably more app than a heart-rate-plus-calendar view — a full analytics platform, with the subscription that implies.
4. Athlytic — included for honesty, not for calendars
Calendar depth: none. Best for: athletes tracking recovery and strain, which is what it is actually built for.
Athlytic (MyndArc, LLC) is a well-regarded recovery app — 4.8 stars from nearly 11,000 ratings — that reads Apple Watch data to produce recovery and strain scores. It appears on lists like this one often, so it is worth saying clearly: its App Store description makes no mention of calendars or meetings at all. If calendar context is what you are shopping for, this is not the category it competes in. If recovery scoring is, it is one of the best. Free with a subscription, iOS 17 or later.

- Back-to-back meetings, want to find the costly one: 70 BPM. Reading events directly is the whole point, and it is free.
- Want your day rebuilt around your energy: Lifestack. It is the only one that writes to the calendar.
- Want depth of analysis and a proven track record: Welltory, accepting that context is inferred.
- Training and recovery: Athlytic — but not for calendar context.
- Refuse to upload health data: 70 BPM is the only one here that works with no account and no server.
