What meeting fatigue is
Meeting fatigue is the drained, foggy feeling after a day of calls. Researchers who studied video meetings pointed to constant eye contact, seeing your own face, less movement and the extra effort of reading people on a screen. Back-to-back meetings add one more factor: no recovery between them.
Two kinds of meeting fatigue app
Time-based tools analyse your calendar: hours in meetings, focus time, back-to-back streaks. Useful, but every meeting counts the same.
Body-based tools add a physical signal. 70 BPM lays the heart rate your Apple Watch recorded over your calendar, so you can see which meetings raised it and whether it came down between them.
What to look for in your data
- Staircase days: heart rate that steps up through a run of calls and never returns to baseline.
- The expensive meeting: one recurring meeting that is consistently higher than the rest.
- The late-afternoon slide: meetings after 3 pm that cost more than the same meeting in the morning.
Fixes that show up in the data
- Default meetings to 25 or 50 minutes to create gaps.
- Move the most demanding meeting to your best time of day.
- Turn some calls into audio-only or walking calls.
- Protect one meeting-free block every day.
Change one thing, wait a week, then compare. That is the advantage of measuring rather than guessing.
Not medical advice. 70 BPM shows heart-rate data your watch has already written to Apple Health. It is not a medical device and cannot diagnose anything. If your heart rate is often high at rest, or you have chest pain, dizziness or breathlessness, talk to a doctor.
